So Catherine Tyldesley was perhaps a slightly bizarre choice to launch a new menu at Rooster Peri Peri in Essex on Friday.
However as she tucked into the tasty looking chicken the Coronation Street actress revealed that she believes in treating herself… but only in moderation.
Yummy: Catherine Tyldesley attended a menu launch at a fast food restaurant in Essex on Friday
The Rovers Return favourite said: ‘I lost a lot of weight in the last few years so I don’t eat much fast food and I do believe that you should treat yourself in moderation, I still have treat meals and treat myself.
‘Rosters menu gives plenty of options to eat healthily. People don’t always realise they can eat healthily. People assume chains like Roosters offer purely purely junk food but that is often not the case.
Opening up: Joined by actor Upen Patel she spoke about her fitness regime and diet
She continued: ‘I’m usually pretty boring and controlled but when I’ve had a drink my weakness is chips. I’m a traditional Northern girl so I am partial to fish and chips.’
However Catherine is well aware that when she does treat herself she needs to exercise.
Chic: Catherine wore a flattering black dress with a chic dark coral jacket, while her hair fell in waves
‘Luckily I enjoy exercise. I don’t see it as a hardship. It is hard work, but it is something I enjoy doing. I train four to five times a week when I am not busy but when I am busy it can just be once or twice.’
Catherine, who plays Eva Price on the soap, recently split from her 22-year-old boyfriend Sam Witter amid reports that while she was ‘desperate to start a family’, he wasn’t quite as ready.
The star, who credited Sam with helping her slim down to a size 10 as recently as last week, told pals the split was a mutual decision and added both were upset at the news.
Having fun: The actress, who recently split from her boyfriend, looked like she was having fun on her 'treat' day
