Blonde Helen, played 'Dozy Rosie' in the soap next to Le Vell until she quit the Corrie last year, branded the charges 'vile'.
The actress, who said she grew up with the star, has now called for anonymity for those charged with child sex crimes until they have been convicted in a court of law.

Speaking to the Sunday the actress said: 'I was so shocked to hear that the allegations had come back. It's absolutely vile what is being said about him. It sickens you to your stomach.'
She added: 'I don't think things like that should be in the press until it's proven... It's terrible. I have spoken to him and he knows I am there for him.'

Corrie stars have been lining up to support the actor, whose marriage to Janette Beverley dissolved last year.
Bill Roache who plays Ken Barlow said he was concerned about how Le Vell had been portrayed - urging people to wait and see what the outcome of the court case would be before condemning Le Vell.

Gill told the Sunday Mirror: 'The whole thing came out of the blue and left Michael really shocked.'
The alleged sex offences all relate to one child and took place between 2001 and 2010, the court was told in February.

Three months later prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence and the charges were dropped. Then came the CPS review.
In a statement Le Vell said he would fight the allegations 'vigorously'.
He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court this month.
