Modern day Marilyn Monroe: Helen Flanagan

We often look up to people with similar traits as ourselves, which must explain why Helen Flanagan is such a big fan of Marilyn Monroe.

Not only does the 22-year old have a tattoo of the tragic 1950s pin-up's face on her forearm, but she also likes to dress a bit like her, too.

She celebrated taking Tulisa Contostavlos' crown of FHM's sexiest woman in the UK by changing in to a dress that looked like Monroe's iconic costume from the Seven Year Itch.

It could be argued that now both Helen and Marilyn are in their own way, cultural icons of their time.

Both blonde and buxom, and both graceful and gentle, perfect embodiments of femininity and charm.

Just like Marilyn, Helen wears glasses and also has a penchant for being romanced by sportsmen. 

Helen is currently seeing Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair, and Marilyn wed baseball star Joe DiMaggio.

Similarly, Marilyn could, in her day, walk in to a room and command attention, which Helen proved she is also capable of when she arrived at the  FHM event earlier on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old WAG arrived at a bash to celebrate her title and wore a daring dress that fell well below sophisticated standards. 

Not only did she have plenty of cleavage on show, thanks to the plunging neckline of the dress, but she also showed off some leg, seen through a thigh-high split.

Helen also showed off the skin on her back in the black number, meaning she was unable to wear a bra to support her ample cleavage. 

The former Coronation Street actress had her hair scraped back into an eye-wateringly tight ponytail and it was clear she had fake tanned her pale skin before arriving at the party, held at the Sanderson hotel in London. 

Helen teamed the dress with a pair of black peep toe stilettos and wore a sparkling ring on her engagement finger.

The actress recently slammed rumours that she and boyfriend Scott Sinclair had split up, saying that the couple have their 'ups and downs' in her magazine column. 

A spokesperson for the actress told MailOnline that the piece of jewelery was simply a 'dress ring', and denied that the actress and her footballer beau are engaged.

The former Coronation Street has won the British sexiest woman from the lads' mag poll, and in her latest photo shoot the world can see why.

Helen - who came in third after Mila and runner-up Rihanna - took the top spot away from her former co-star Michelle Keegan, which will no doubt be seen as a controversial result.

Michelle came fourth followed by Kelly Brook, Kaley Cuoco, Pixie Lott, Kate Upton, Cheryl Cole and Georgia Salpa to complete the top ten.

Three of these new entries were 19-year old Perrie Edwards from Little Mix at 55, BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid, 42, at number 96, and interior designer and TV personality Linda Barker.

Linda, 50, got the number 93 spot, no doubt impressed the male readers after competing in the ITV celebrity diving series Splash, where she showed off her impeccable figure in a bikini.

Kym Lomas looked ready to get in the swing of spring, as she carried more than a few shopping bags home from a fashion event in Manchester.

The Coronation Street star was joined by her co-star Georgia-May Foote at the Lipsy Retreat on Wednesday.

With three or four bags on each arm a smiling Kym, 36, was clearly pleased with her fashionable haul.

The mother-of-three wore a grey Love Club 'kissing is cool' grey jumper, over black jeans and matching trainer boots.

 

Georgia-May opted for a sleeveless pink shirt with black jeans and boots.

Hopefully in one of her many bags, there was a present for the 22-year old's mum as earlier that morning she tweeted a message about her parent's big day: 'Good morning my little swamp donkeys! So its my mums birthday today! The suns out! May is here! #excited (sic)x'.

Inside the event, the actresses enjoyed a glass of wine as they browsed the rails of Lipsy's new collection.

But although spring has arrived, calling for bright colours, it seemed Kym couldn't go without her favourite staple: the little black dress.

According to the fashionable hosts, the former Hear'Say singer 'loved' their LBDs.

The day before, fellow Coronation Street star Nikki Sanderson had enjoyed the shopping event, taking home some beauty products as well as adding to her spring wardrobe.

Alex Gerrard also attended on Tuesday, as she has launched her own VIP clothing range for the brand.

Michelle Keegan puts herself in the running

Last year, she ended up at a disappointing No. 26 on FHM's poll of the Sexiest Women In The World.

But after this saucy photoshoot, Michelle Keegan will be hoping for a much higher placing when the 2013 list in unveiled on Thursday.

The Coronation Street actress, 25, showed off her stunning curves as she peels off for the men's magazine.

According to a FHM insider, Michelle is neck-in-neck in the votes with last year's 47 Helen Flanagan for the top of the list.

Despite the underwear shoot, Michelle admits she doesn't see herself as 'sexy' at all, despite regularly being voted top soap pin-up in polls and award ceremonies.

She told FHM earlier this year: 'I've changed a lot in the last couple of years. I’m comfortable in my own skin now, where I used to be quite shy.

One person who evidently thinks Michelle is sexy is her boyfriend Mark Wright.

The couple have been dating since December and appears to have fallen hard for each other already.

However, his mother Carol admitted Mark will be hoping Michelle doesn't do too many sexy shoots.

She told Love It! magazine in March: 'He may get jealous of those sexy shoots she does. He’s a proud, old-fashioned boy and he might be bothered that the other boys will be seeing his girlfriend like that. But as long as they’re not too risqué, he’ll be fine.

'They just seem very happy together, and have a good laugh.'

Of course, Michelle's shoot couldn't be further from her character Tina McIntyre's current situation - she's heavily pregnant with a surrogate baby for her friends Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong.

Meanwhile, Michelle is counting down to leaving the soap after announcing her departure last month.

She will stay on screen until Spring 2014 after six years on the ITV serial drama.

And now Coronation Street actress Samia Ghadie has spoken out about the £4,000 operation that saw her jump from an A to a C cup.

The Dancing On Ice star, who recently went public with her relationship with skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, admitted that her bra size had made her feel 'depressed.'

'Just the thought of putting a bikini on on holiday was making me feel a little depressed before, so I made up my mind to do it,' she continued.

'Pamela Anderson might have had the edge on me in that department. That’s why I’ve asked for the extra padding.'

According to The Sun, Samia had her operation at Manchester's Transform Pines Hospital during a brief break from filming Coronation Street.

Samia displayed the results of the reported operation by sporting a figure-hugging green and yellow sleeveless dress as she and Sylvain attended the nuptials.

'We have our problems but we haven't split

Helen Flanagan has revealed she has not split from her footballer boyfriend, admitting the pair have their problems but they are still very much in love.

As the 22-year-old actress and reality star was spotted lunching with her Manchester City beau, she spoke out to say their four year relationship is far from over.

'We clash and have ups and downs, like most couples. It's my private business but we haven't split': Blonde Helen told the Daily Mirror.

A pal told The Sun last week 'Helen and Scott break up every other week. It is something all of her friends have got used to. But the fact that she’s told close pals it’s all over is a new step.'

Last Thursday the star wrote a cryptic tweet, which alluded to the end of her relationship: 'New chapter got to be happy xxx.'

They were happy in Swansea, but after the move, whenever Scott went out, Helen would demand to know where he was at all times.’

Helen and Scott met back in 2009 while she was playing Rosie Webster in Coronation Street and he played for Wigan Athletic.

Michelle, 25, was seen leaving Australasia Restaurant in Manchester on Wednesday night at about 11.50pm after having a late dinner with Mark Wright.
